The position of pianist/accompanist has become available for the 2024 fall/Christmas season. We are looking for an individual who loves to play popular and challenging music with an established, auditioned community choir located in the Durham Region. Assisting and reporting directly to our dynamic musical director Craig Garnham, you will form an integral part of our artistic team.
Hours:
Spring Season (January to May): first weekend of May plus community performances as scheduled.
Christmas Season (September to December): first weekend of December plus community performances as scheduled.
Rehearsals: Wednesday’s 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Workshops: Saturday’s (one per month) 9:00 am to 2 pm
Responsibilities:
• Review and prepare piano music provided by choir
• Attend and play at all weekly rehearsals, workshops, community shows and concerts following
conductor’s lead
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to attending all CTS rehearsals / performances
• Organized and enthusiastic contributing to a relaxed and inclusive artistic environment
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in piano or equivalent training and musical experience
• Experience accompanying a choral group/ensemble and knowledge of choral rehearsal techniques
• Experience with vocal singing is an asset
Compensation: $2,300 per season ($1,500 for remainder of 2024 fall/Christmas season)
