On Friday night, MPP Jennifer French joined the County Town Singers at their annual holiday performance to celebrate the work that the choir has done since receiving a $14,300 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) earlier this year. Funds from the grant are supporting the County Town Singers’ marketing efforts to continue rebuilding from the impacts of the pandemic.

“This generous investment of $14,300 by the Ontario Trillium Foundation will go a long way in securing expertise to develop and implement a marketing and communication strategy,” said Jennifer French, MPP for Oshawa. “It will also help greatly with volunteer coaching and training, and it will strengthen the performing arts in Oshawa and Durham Region. Congratulations County Town Singers!”

The grant allowed the choir to work with a local consultant – Pink Palm Marketing and Communications – to support County Town Singers’ operational and strategic planning; resource knowledge, data sharing; and revenue generation. Over the past six months, the choir’s brand assets were assessed and new, improved, marketing materials were developed with the insight of a forward-looking communications plan. This included a website redesign and integrations with other digital tools to streamline and promote communication channels.

“As a community choir that has been going strong for 56 years, we recognize and welcome opportunities to refresh how we present ourselves to the community, and the Resilient Communities Fund grant has allowed us to continue to do so,” explained Sue Korbak, Membership Coordinator for the County Town Singers. “It’s especially important after a hiatus from performing due to the pandemic that as we move forward, we broaden our reach through inviting new prospects to join the choir, providing support through sponsorships, and attending our performances.”

The County Town Singers would like to express their sincere gratitude to MPP French and Helen Ecker, an OTF volunteer, for attending the event, and to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for allowing the opportunity to modernize our communications operations.
