The County Town Singers, one of Durham Region’s longest-running choirs, is excited to announce their upcoming New Member Nights.
The choir welcomes individuals with a passion for singing to join them for their regular rehearsals on Wednesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 13, at 7 p.m. at Northminster United Church, 676 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa. Auditions will be held at the end of rehearsal on September 13.
“The County Town Singers have been a cornerstone of Durham Region’s cultural scene since 1967, and we’re excited to continue that tradition by inviting new members to join us,” said Gregg McCabe, President of County Town Singers.
“Some members join for only a year or two, but many stay for several years – some even decades. Everyone’s unique voice is valued here – whether you’re an experienced vocalist or simply someone who loves to sing.”
Members must be available to attend weekly rehearsals, monthly workshops and bi-annual showcases. Dues are $150 per season, which covers funding for rehearsal and performance space, music purchases, and Director and Accompanist remuneration, among other expenses.
“New Member Nights offer a great opportunity for aspiring vocalists to explore the world of local performing arts and experience the camaraderie that comes with being part of a community group like ours,” explained Sue Korbak, Membership Coordinator with the County Town Singers.
“Our mixed-voice, auditioned choir comprises sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. We welcome new adult members of all ages, backgrounds and musical experience.”
